I paint my still life paintings from objects that I set up in the studio. They are on a table that is behind me, so that each time I step back to look at them, I’m in a slightly different place. Sometimes, I will even move my light source so that the shadows go in different directions. I do this to symbolize trying to find a feeling of calm when life feels a little too chaotic.
