She was a lion. She was bold. It was a shock when she opted out of life. Unbeknownst to me, her death prefaced the unfolding of my personal life weeks after this drawing was produced. Her Native American end of life ceremony forbade saying her name for one year. She could only be referred to as ‘Coyote Girl.’ In the midst of agonizing grief of her loss, I felt her guide my hand.
